Redefine what it means to thrive as a mom.
In today's fast-paced society, mothers often find themselves isolated and unsupported, juggling the demands of parenthood with their personal and professional aspirations.
In our communities, there is currently a noticeable absence of dedicated spaces for children and families. Mothers, in particular, experience a lack of the traditional 'village' support system, often navigating challenges independently, resulting in a decline in wellbeing and disruptions to their personal wellness and professional goals. motherhouse collective is dedicated to offering a comprehensive solution to support the unique needs of our target communities.
Our Why
Values Statement
As a community, we are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive, and empowering space where every member feels valued and respected. To ensure our collective thrives, we embrace 5 core values.
These values serve as the foundation for how we interact, engage, and grow together in the Motherhouse Collective. Every member is expected to uphold these principles, ensuring that our community remains a place of safety, growth, and empowerment.
-
We celebrate diversity in all its forms, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that our differences make us stronger, and we actively cultivate a space where every voice is heard and honored.
-
We recognize that everyone’s journey is unique. We approach one another with compassion and empathy, free from judgment. This community is a safe place where members can express themselves authentically, knowing they will be met with understanding and support.
-
We understand that growth and connection come from being open and vulnerable. We commit to showing up as our true selves, sharing our experiences, challenges, and successes, while creating a space where others feel safe to do the same.
-
We treat each other with kindness and respect at all times. Healthy, constructive dialogue and feedback are welcome, but always with the intention of building up, not tearing down.
-
We believe in the power of collective strength. Each of us brings unique talents and insights, and we commit to supporting one another’s goals, sharing knowledge, and working together to lift the entire community.
Our Community
-
For stay-at-home mothers, Motherhouse Collective seeks to enhance their quality of life by providing scheduled opportunities throughout the week to leave the house, learn, grow, and connect. Even those not utilizing our childcare space full time can benefit from our short-term childcare program while working or socializing in the space, or participating in any of our professional development and wellness programs.
-
Motherhouse Collective offers a solution by providing on-site childcare facilities in the same building where they can work and connect with other moms. This enables mothers to stay connected, breastfeed during the day, share lunchtime moments, and engage in enrichment programs alongside their children. Our aim is to create an environment that fosters a sense of comfort for women entrusting their children to daycare, allowing them to pursue their professional goals with confidence.
-
Motherhouse Collective would like to engage high school and college age moms to provide space to study and connect. We aim to secure grant funding to provide free access to the short term childcare, co-working space and professional development programming.
-
Motherhouse Collective is committed to enhancing not only the lives of mothers but also the well-being of our childcare staff. By prioritizing the welfare of our childcare staff, we aim to mitigate burnout and address the prevalent issue of staffing shortages and turnover within the industry. This approach aligns with motherhouse collective’s holistic vision, fostering a sustainable and supportive environment for both our team members and the families we serve.
-
Motherhouse Collective aims to secure grant funding to support high school and college students interested in a career in childcare. These students will then be a member of our educator team.
-
Motherhouse Collective would like to engage the local retirement homes to coordinate times for women to come and enjoy an hour working with the children.
Founder | Executive Director
Sabrena Lopez
Sabrena was inspired to create a safe and supportive space for mothers after experiencing firsthand the challenges of balancing a career with the demands of motherhood. As a first-time mom, she took time off after her son's birth but found herself unable to trust traditional daycare options. This led her to stay home for a while, which sparked a significant identity shift as she navigated the tension between her career and her new role as a mother.
During this time, Sabrena struggled with the mental and emotional demands of motherhood, feeling isolated and anxious about pursuing her entrepreneurial ambitions. She eventually returned to work when her son was 9 months old, but the high cost of daycare and the challenges of balancing work and family life were overwhelming. This experience highlighted the need for accessible, affordable childcare and a supportive community for mothers.
In response, Sabrena founded Motherhouse Collective to address the unique needs of mothers at all stages, whether they are stay-at-home moms, working moms, or moms pursuing education. Her vision is to create a collaborative and judgment-free environment where mothers can thrive, balancing their personal and professional aspirations with the joys and challenges of motherhood.
